How are page groups on the web insights report different than web visit attributes used in Segmentation?
The web insights dashboard is designed to help you analyze which companies are visiting specific pages or groups of pages on your website. You can configure page groups to use in analysis on the web insights dashboard.
Within segmentation you also have the ability to create attributes that represent visits to a specific page or group of pages.
Will creating page groups on the web insights dashboard also make them available as attributes for segmentation?
Configuring page groups on the web insights dashboard will not make them available for use in segmentation. To create web visit attributes to be used in segmentation, you should import a configuration file. You can read this article on how to do this.
Will the web visit attributes that I have configured for segmentation be available for use in the web insights dashboard?
Web visit attributes that you have configured for segmentation will not be available within the web insights dashboard. You should use the settings within the web insights dashboard to add page groups to this page.
Why can I not see the same web visit attributes groups in segmentation on the web insights dashboard?
The use case for page groups on the web insights dashboard is to understand who is visiting your site and with pages they are visiting. In segmentation, the purpose of web visit attributes groups is to use them for retargeting. While it is possible that the same groups may be in both segmentation and on the web insights dashboard it is not required.
With the release of the new way of creating segments using activity data, page groups will no longer be required as customers will have the flexibility to create any segment that they choose with web visit data. You can read about the release of this feature on our resource page.
