Map Source Fields to CDP Attributes
Step 1: Map fields for a Custom Connection
The data sources that you have created under your custom connection will only become usable after you have mapped your fields to the CDP. To map your fields, a file must either exist in the AWS S3 folder beforehand or be uploaded during the field mapping process.
Either click on the "Edit Mapping" icon under the action menu or on the "Complete Field Mappings" button under the warning icon for the source.
You will be taken to a screen where you can either import your sample file from AWS S3 or upload a sample file directly from your desktop.
Once you have uploaded your file, you can select the checkbox to indicate that you would like to automatically import the data from the uploaded file once the field mapping process is complete
On the next screen, you will see a preview of your mapped fields and be given the option to edit the mappings that were automatically detected.
Select the "Edit Mapping" button to access the field mapping page for your source. Here you are able to map fields from your source file to CDP attributes.
Here are some tips for your field mapping experience:
- Drag and drop your source fields on the right to the CDP attribute on the left. Alternatively, you can click on a CDP attribute and search/select one of your source attributes to map it to:
- Required fields for an object are indicated at the top with an asterisk (*). Learn more about required fields for each object and how they are related to one another with the Object Relationship Diagram.
- Add new custom fields by selecting the 3-dot icon for a field and clicking "Add New Attribute". You may then enter the CDP attribute name, select the data type, add a description, and configure other attribute settings on the pop up that appears.
- Note: ID fields must be configured as "Id" Data Type when creating/mapping attributes in order to use them to join data to other objects in the CDP
- You must configure the format for your date fields by clicking "Edit Date Mapping"
- You are able to search and filter for attributes by their name and data type.
Step 2: Configure D&B Identity Resolution to Match your Records and Add Object Relationships
After your field mappings are complete, the next step will prompt you to indicate the ID you would like to use to uniquely identify records. You are also able to enable D&B Identity Resolution and select the fields that will be used to match your account records to a DUNS number.
Use the "Add New Relationships" button at the bottom of the page to select ID(s) that were mapped in the previous screen that will be used to join this source to other objects in the CDP. Fields must have been mapped as "Id" Data Type to be used for joining objects.
Select a name for your data source. It is good practice to indicate the connection (source system) name and object type in the source name (ex: "SAP CRM Accounts")
Review a summary of the data source settings you just configured. Click "Done" to complete your field mappings, save source settings, and begin importing data from your file (if selected).
